Dr. Jones is the founder and CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan consulting firm specializing in public opinion polling and research-based strategic advice at the intersection of religion, values, and public life. His most recent book is Progressive & Religious: How Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Buddhist Leaders are Moving Beyond the Culture Wars and Transforming American Public Life. Dr. Jones’ work is a leading speaker and scholar on religion and politics, and his work is frequently featured in the media, appearing in Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, the Nation, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, USA Today, MSNBC.com, National Public Radio, Tikkun, the Christian Century, Sojourners, and others.
Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in religion from Emory University, and a M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He sits on the national steering committee for the Religion and Politics Group at the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and is an active member of the Society of Christian Ethics and the American Association of Public Opinion Research (AAPOR).
